The highly controversial poll that is the DJ mag has released yet another series of rankings of who are the most recognized DJ's in the industry at the moment, with some results being outrageously disappointing while others being well deserved. It also shows a huge trend, that the heavyweights of the past now have less of a presence in peoples minds compared to the new up and comers such as Hardwell and Nicky Romero (who entered the poll at 17). This being the case obviously results in a lot of skewed rankings, Thomas Gold at 82, Netsky at 96 and Bloody Beetroots at 111 to name a few, have all been disappointing and in my opinion, outrageous rankings for these producers and they deserve so much higher.
On the other side of the coin though, there are some accurate standings. Armin finally got put back in his rightful place at number 1, and Avicii, who has been taking this world by storm was put at number 3. Another special mention would have to go to Hardwell, who took the number 6 spot in a well deserved manner from a year of hard work and constant touring.
As I haven't posted some music in a while, here is an insane mixtape of Pete Tong's newest essential selection off BBC radio 1. Enjoy!
